As the fifth largest city in Idaho, Caldwell has worked hard to attract new businesses to provide strong jobs for local residents. After a number of small businesses moved to the town’s newly minted Sky Ranch Business Park, the city wanted to recruit a larger business to anchor the park and further incentivize economic development in the area. Fresca Mexican Foods, a Boise-based tortilla manufacturing company, saw an opportunity to build a large corporate headquarters that would allow it to increase production capacity. MoFi’s New Markets Tax Credit program helped the new $34.7 million, 190,000-square-foot plant at the business park, a move that will bring hundreds of quality jobs to the area. City officials say it’s exactly what the area needs to promote economic vitality as it grows.
